Imperial Peking @ South Juniors Club
First destination, yum cha! A place that can either be completely foreign to you, or the same old restaurant you go to every weekend with your family. This is the first time I've been here now, the restaurant (Imperial Peking) is located inside the South Juniors Club in Kingsford.
So here is some of the things we ordered...
Spring rolls, panfried dumplings, dimsims, prawn dumplings & Chickens feet! (left to right)
Alot of "westeners" tend to find chickens feet unappealing, and it was even in The Amazing Race food challenge, but really? To debunk such theory, it is actually delicious!
Since it was a Saturday arvo, the restaurant was almost filled up, but I did notice that there was at least 10+ waiters/people serving food in trolleys, which means good service for everybody! The staff were very attentive, though not exactly who you would make small talk with.
Note that if you know people that work at Chinese Restaurants, the chances of you skipping the queue or getting free tea is very high! There was no wait today, unlike the yumchas at Chinatown, which is a plus because you're getting equally quality food.
Rice pastry with chasiew (It's pretty much flat rice noodles, and inside there's chasiew and a bit of vegetables)
Beef tendons (By the time we ordered this I was so full) But it's jellylike consistency is interesting, try it!)
It was interesting to see that there was a diversity in the people eating there, not just asian familys having their usual Saturday brunch! Kudos to diversity :)
Pan fried pork buns with spring onions
The pricing overall for yumcha ranges from $3.90 for a "small dish" to $8.90 for a "special deluxe, though alot of the dishes I ordered fall into the $4.90 for a "medium dish" or $5.70 for a "large dish". So for a satisfactory meal for 3 people, we paid $55.00 (almost $20 a head).
And if you're looking for parking or convenience, there is a large parking lot right across the road from the club and it's also close to public transport on Anzac Parade!
